Opera 9.1 matches my Opera Roadmap Prediction

My inofficial roadmap prediction was easy for Opera9.1 and I'd say it was a pretty total match:

… …

Opera 9.1

(this one is easy as there are already weekly builds close to RC1)

  • fraud protection
  • custom find in page colors

time: early 2006 Christmas present (middle of December)

  • The single highlight of this release is fraud protection – see press release
  • The second feature I named – custom colors for find in page – is not even mentioned in Opera9.1 change-log, although it is there: opera:config#Colors|HighlightedBackground
  • There is another feature under the hood regarding a precautionary security enhancement – so it may be called a security fix: the wand was changed because of the possibility in other browsers to catch the login-data on community sites (article on heise-news, German article) which was published short time after my roadmap prediction.
  • Besides that there are quite a few things mentioned in Opera9.1 change-log – as predicted:

In every version will be bugfixes and enhanced support of web standards.

note: The planned fix for the horizintal scroll bar on Adobe's pages was removed in final Opera due to some bad side effects.

  • Furthermore there are some preperations in Opera's ini-files for future use, at least partly already working if manually activated (see Saitos blog) – I've updated my Opera 9.5 roadmap prediction.

Opera 9.1 was released on 18th of December which I consider to be an early 2006 X-mas present and pretty much the predicted middle of December.

Well, it will be much harder for my prediction to match the 9.5 and 10 features, as I suppose not even Opera has decided yet about the final releases. Well, I'll keep you up to date 😉
